I am probably a lot like you. I am someone’s child, someone’s sibling, someone’s mother, someone’s  spouse, someone’s employee, someone’s aunt…friend…..mentor…thorn. I get motivated and I become unmotivated. I work hard, I flop on weekends.

I have been being the above for over 50 years, and it has dawned on me that there is a potential me that I have not given birth to yet. I hope I have time to let this potential me develop.

Although I am not always successful, I believe in what Buddhists call “right thinking”. Although I do not always remember, I believe we need to be a good mentor to everyone we meet, as well as a good mentoree! We may have some suggestions and answers, but we certainly don’t have them all.

I believe I have a responsibility to myself  to strive towards my potential. And I believe that by my working on my potentiality, I have the opportunity to nudge someone else to start the journey too.

I think we are all connected, somehow, by something.

I’ve read some postings on your blog, Kathryn, and enjoyed them very much. Growing into one’s potential is what life is about. As you may have observed from my blog, Transit Notes, I also share your interests in Buddhism, Zen, Alan Watts, and numerous other subjects. I’ll be following your blog and look forward to it.
